Designed for our Knowing Our Joy book, the art is a mandala of elements from the stories of Southeast Asian elders featured in the anthology celebrating sources of joy and cultural pride. References include stories of gardening, parenting, fishing, studying for U.S. citizenship, and being in spiritual community.

The mandala's center is an emblem using design motifs and symbolisms from Hmong, Khmer, Lao, and Vietnamese cultures, with the innermost being Hmong symbols for seeds and snails (for abundance, family, and generational growth).
