This animation is based on an oft-told story from my mother's childhood.

Julie VanEsler is a video editor and stop motion animator who is interested in film history, Asian representation in media, and Southeast Asian class and racial identity. Her works focus primarily on unconventional storytelling through the paper medium. She currently works as a Makerspace facilitator and video editor.
